In the archives of the Courland Knighthood, Rudden first appears in 1492 when the Bishop of Pilten granted the estate to the von Amboten family. Over the centuries, ownership of the estate changed frequently until 1819, when it came into the possession of the Barons von Fircks after the marriage of Lieutenant Karl von Fircks to the then-owner, Agnes von Sacken. From 1882 until nationalization in 1921, Baron Paul von Manteuffel from the large estate of Katzdangen, only 4 km away, was the owner. The estate undoubtedly reached its peak during the time of the Barons von Fircks, who engaged in extensive construction activities.
The manor house is slightly elevated in the hilly terminal moraine landscape and offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside to both the east and west. This provides romantics with fantastic sunrises and sunsets. The park-like landscape boasts a high stock of robust deciduous trees such as oaks, linden, elms, and beeches. Additionally, there are several ponds on the expansive property.
The simple manor house, built in the early 19th century in the classical style, has maintained its original layout and façade design. The building has seven axes and is two stories high with a tall hipped roof. As was common in the early 19th century, the ground floor is of lower height and was reserved for utility areas. The bel étage, on the other hand, is spacious and features an enfilade running the entire length of the house. The massive wooden beam ceilings are impressive and well-preserved or renewed. Most of the original doors and double doors have been preserved, and the floors are largely made of the original planks. The same applies to the main staircase from the construction period.
The house is in relatively good structural condition, as far as the roof and structure are concerned, but all installations need to be renewed or installed. Electricity and utility water are available. Wastewater is disposed of via a septic tank.
Included in the sale is a small house built around 1920 and recently renovated, with approximately 150 sqm, as well as two other older buildings.
