Ohseln Manor -Ozolu muiža- is located in the heart of Courland, just 19 kilometers from Kuldiga and its famous waterfall. A paved road leads directly to the estate. The manor house is situated on a small hill, offering a beautiful view of the park and pond from its garden side.
Ohseln was first mentioned in 1526 when the Grand Master of the Livonian Order, Walter von Plettenberg, granted the estate to Gerhard von Dönhoff as a fief. In 1582, it was purchased by Evert von der Brüggen. The estate remained in this family until 1791. Later, it came into the possession of the von Behr, von der Brinken and von Recke families. The last owner of the estate, which covered over 2000 hectares and was expropriated during the Latvian land reform, was Silvio Broedrich.
The current manor house was built in 1870. It is a single-story, 9-bay masonry building on a high plinth, topped with a gable roof. Two-story wing buildings with Palladian-style windows were added to both gables. The attic is partially finished.
The approximately 2-hectare park features a number of beautiful solitary trees and a large pond.
Since 2018, house and park have been gutted and are being renovated with modest means to make them at least partially habitable.
