Pazo de Brandaliz is a Galician manor ("pazo") of the 16th century situated on the outskirts of Santa Marta de Ortigueira, just over a kilometre from Morouzos Beach. The walled gardens extend to 8,000 m²; the built area covers approximately 900 m², comprising the main house, a private chapel, a panera, pavilions and viewing points. The estate has been continuously maintained, preserving its original layout and material character.
ARCHITECTURE
The main house contains six bedrooms, three bathrooms and a guest WC, a living room with panoramic windows, a dining room with exposed timber beams and a traditional Galician kitchen with lareira and wood-fired oven. Original architectural details are intact throughout.
The Chapel of San Miguel remains in use. Its Baroque bell gable and carved wooden ceiling are among the most notable features of the property.
GARDENS
The walled garden dates to the 18th century and reflects Galician design with French influence. The planting includes centuries-old roses, camellias, a monumental olive tree and a documented hermaphroditic orange tree. Pavilions and viewing points are positioned throughout the grounds.
USES AND POTENTIAL
The property is suited to private residential use or conversion to a small-scale tourism operation. Outbuildings offer scope for restoration as guest accommodation or event space.
