Krimulda is probably the most interesting manor house in Livonia (Vidzeme), or perhaps even in the whole Baltic States.
Situated high above the valley of the Gauja (Livonian Aa), in the national park of the same name, to the north one is in visual contact with the wonderfully restored old Teutonic Order castle of Treiden (Turaida). Opposite, connected by a cable car across the river, lies the heart of "Livonian Switzerland" the small town of Sigulda (Segewold), also known as the center of Latvian winter sports. There is a golf course just a few minutes away and the culinary environment is now well developed.

Riga is only 50 km away and can be easily reached by train as well as by a well-developed trunk road.

Krimulda (Cremon) entered the written history in the 13th century with the seizure of the left bank of the Gauja River by the Livonian Order of Swords. The right bank of the Livonian Aa (Gauja) belonged to the Archbishop of Riga, who had a castle built in 1231 to secure it. Because of its exposed position, the castle was often fought over and finally severely damaged in 1601 in the course of the Swedish-Polish War.
It remained so, it was never rebuilt and its imposing ruins still bear witness to its martial past, only a few meters away from the new castle.

Under Polish rule Krimulda was secularized and after the Swedish occupation of Livonia in 1625 King Gustav Adolf granted it to the Swedish Imperial Council Oxenstierna. In 1664 it was pledged to Johann v. Helmersen, and in 1726 it finally became the property of his heirs.
In 1817 it was acquired by the lieutenant general Prince Johann Lieven. He was followed in 1848 by his son, the land marshal Prince Paul Lieven, and since 1881 the estate has belonged to his son Prince Paul Lieven, who was expropriated in 1920.

After the expropriation, the Latvian Red Cross took over the estate and established a sanatorium. Then in 1928 the semicircular summer residence was built in front of the castle.
After Latvia regained its independence, Krimulda was privatized and is still run as a hostel with basic facilities.

The whole ensemble for sale here consists of 9 buildings with a total of 8300 square meters of floor space.
The centerpiece is the classicist castle built in the middle of the 19th century.
The original one-storey house was subsequently extended by a converted mansard storey. The house has 17 axes and, although actually only of medium size, appears much more stately due to the enormous portico.
Although in classicist architecture the roof is not really emphasized, in Krimulda the lines of the roof were calculated to create a silhouette effect. A small tower, a so-called "belvedere", was placed on the main ridge as a crown.
The garden front has a central veranda, again decorated with columns. Shortly behind it the terrain slopes steeply and opens a fantastic view into the valley of the Gauja (Livonian Aa).

Of the former farm buildings of the manor, the former horse stable is especially remarkable in its elaborate classicist architecture. As well as most of the manor buildings testify to the high creative will of the builder.
Some of the outbuildings are rented out. The palette here ranges from a distillery marketed to tourists to apartments.

The total area for sale here is 53.76 hectares, which probably corresponds to the usual area left to the lords of the manor during the land reform in 1920.
