This house was designed by a physician and former mayor of Ferrol. His intention was to promote hygiene practices among the population and to advance preventive medicine. He was also reputed to be an expert in the treatment of epilepsy.
Originally built in the early 20th century as a sanatorium, the building later became his private residence and is currently abandoned. Set on a four-thousand-square-meter estate, the structure features a 25-meter-wide façade and a tower crowned with a turret.
The neoclassical and eclectic building dates from the early 20th century and is considered one of the most unique constructions in the town of Fene. Its U-shaped floor plan is divided into several sections, mainly rear galleries, one of which originally housed a library. The tallest part of the façade reaches 25 meters in height. The structure is built with thick stone load-bearing walls and wooden beams. Its most symbolic architectural element is the flat-roofed tower with a roof terrace and balustrade, offering breathtaking views over the Ferrol estuary.
Opposite the house, on the other side of the road and also in ruins, stands the former house and mill associated with the property.
The estate is located approximately 15 minutes from the city of Ferrol and 30 minutes from A Coruña, the second most populated city in Galicia, with rail connections to mainland Spain. The international airport of Santiago de Compostela is about 55 minutes away.
