The village of Sobota is located halfway between Piątek and Łowicz in the Łódź Voivodeship. The manor house there was built on a hill from the remains of a 16th century fortified defense system and is known as the birthplace of Artur Zawisza Czarny, bearer of the Przerowa coat of arms, Polish captain, freedom fighter in the November Uprising and Freemason. In 1833 he fell into Russian captivity and was executed in Warsaw. Even today his last words are famous in Poland:
After 1945, the manor house served for decades as a simple apartment building, as a result of which the historical interior architecture was completely lost. Overall, today's appearance seems somewhat inhomogeneous and obstructed. However, the idyllic hillside location in the partially manicured park, designed by Walerian Kronenberg and surrounded by marshy landscape, certainly give the estate a certain character.
Other buildings remain on the former estate, including a brick granary, the ruins of a distillery and various farm buildings. A few years ago, the property was in the process of being marketed. The park is temporarily open to visitors on weekends (2020).
