Moated Castle Erwitte

Schloss Erwitte, 59597 Erwitte

The castle in Erwitte is a Renaissance building in the town of the same name in the district of Soest in North Rhine-Westphalia. The present castle was built in the 17th century for the lords of Landsberg zu Erwitte. In the 1930s, the castle was nationalized and subsequently used as a training center for the NSDAP. For this purpose, the exterior and interior were considerably altered and rebuilt. In the post-war years, it housed among other things a children's home, before being nationalized again in the 1970s and later privatized.

Since the early 2000s, it has been in use for tourism and gastronomy purposes: Website Schlosshotel Erwitte.
