History of the Palace

The manor complex forms an interesting landscape ensemble connected with the adjacent forest complex and a 150-year-old linden tree avenue. Based on preserved architectural elements, the Baroque palace was erected around the mid-18th century (ornamental portal dated 1757). Due to the village’s location in the former Upper Lusatia region, there are significant difficulties in determining the earlier history of the estate prior to the mid-19th century. The palace is currently a two-storey, basement building, constructed on a rectangular plan and covered with a high hipped roof with dormer windows. On the eastern side, an arcade porch composed of three arches supported by pillars was added to the side elevation, carrying a loggia. Inside, a spacious entrance hall with an old staircase was formed. The front façade is emphasized in the center by a decorative portal dated 1757. The side walls of the residence feature five window axes each. Part of the 19th-century farm buildings have been preserved within the estate complex.
Of particular note is the 18th-century servants’ house. The palace’s front elevation faces north, toward a rectangular farm courtyard around which the farm buildings were grouped. In front of the palace, a raised driveway reinforced by a retaining wall was formed. The access road to the driveway encircled a lawn that slopes steeply downward from the residence, separating the palace grounds from the farmyard. On the eastern side of the palace there was a small ornamental garden laid out in a semicircular plan.
Today, it remains a flat, treeless, leveled area with clearly defined boundaries. Along the axis of the garden, a linden tree avenue was planted, now approximately 150 years old. A visual axis was created through the garden and the avenue. The small area located between the linden avenue and the farm complex was adapted for recreational purposes and landscaped as a small park. Among the trees there are notable old weeping beeches and a red oak.

Approximately 1 km away there is a lake.
At a distance of 6 km there is a reservoir Berzdorfer See  covering 960 ha with a depth of 72 m, a leisure destination for residents of Germany and Poland due to the proximity of the border crossing.

Attractions include swimming areas with excellent water quality, sailing and fishing opportunities, walking and cycling paths, viewpoints, and a marina. The complex also includes an 18-hole golf course and a network of horse-riding trails.

Fast access to major cities thanks to the motorway network.
