Mühlberg Renaissance Castle was built upon the remains of a 13th-century fortress. Distinguished personalities, including Emperor Charles IV, visited the castle, and the Battle of Mühlberg, an important event in the history of the Reformation, took place here.

Situated on the northern bank of the River Elbe, between Torgau and Riesa, at the crossroads of Saxony, Brandenburg, and the former Kingdom of Bohemia, the castle holds exceptional historical significance. Together with the town of Mühlberg, it represents an outstanding example of German cultural heritage, notable for its history, architectural quality, and scenic setting.

Over the past several years, extensive preparatory work has been carried out to support the restoration and future development of the property. Architectural, structural, and timber condition studies have been completed and incorporated into a comprehensive Master Plan approved by the heritage authorities. The necessary construction permits have also been obtained.

In 2024, cracks were identified in certain areas of the castle, leading to temporary restrictions on access. A complementary geotechnical and foundation study has now been completed. Its findings were highly favorable, confirming that the soil and the majority of the castle’s foundations remain in good condition and that no significant ground failures or active groundwater issues are present.

The study concluded that the main challenges are limited to localized structural elements requiring stabilization. Following a recent on-site meeting on May 2026 with the heritage authorities and the castle architect, the next phase consists of preparing a detailed restoration and stabilization plan to support the reopening of the property and the continuation of the approved Master Plan.

For the future owner, this represents a significant advantage: all essential technical studies have been completed, the restoration strategy has been clearly defined, and the necessary permits are already in place.

The costs of these studies and approvals are included in the purchase price, providing substantial savings in both time and resources and significantly reducing the uncertainties typically associated with historic restoration projects.
