Casa Torre is a 15th-century manor protected as a Patrimonio Nacional. Historically, the estate was associated with the Counts of Monforte de Lemos. The property includes a small chapel dedicated to Saint Barbara.
Structural Condition
The original residential tower has been partially renovated. Rooms feature ceiling heights of approximately 12.5 feet (3.8 meters), with floors restored using chestnut wood planks. The masonry and timber framework remain intact.
The official cadastral footprint is 570 m², but the total area—including the former courtyard—is around 820 m². The main house covers 312 m². With a full renovation of the first floor and conversion of the ground-floor stables, approximately 624 m² of usable space could be realized.
In addition to the main building, there are several outbuildings and stables awaiting new purposes. Electricity and water connections are already in place.
Land
The 1.36-hectare property sits at an elevation of around 1,300 feet (400 meters) and is bordered by oaks and chestnut trees. It adjoins both forested and agricultural land.
A private well, a medieval irrigation right from the neighboring stream, and several natural springs ensure a reliable water supply. The microclimate supports the cultivation of figs, kiwis, and grapes. Adjacent plots are available for purchase.
Location
Casa Torre is located on the edge of a small village east of the Ribeira Sacra wine region. Monforte de Lemos and Lugo are accessible via country roads. Buses run several times daily to nearby towns.
Funding & Incentives
Its heritage designation allows the owner to apply for public grants and subsidies to support renovation and restoration works.
