The Stopfenheim/Ellingen bailiff's castle was built in 1716 by the famous master builder Franz Keller on a moated castle from the 13th century. It presents itself as an outstanding four-winged building in the Baroque style, inspired by the Ellingen residence, with an enclosed inner courtyard and a surrounding wall.
Its unmistakable appearance is characterized by a round-arched entrance portal. On both sides are Ionic pilasters that frame a central risalit with an attached ogee-arched gable and acanthus volutes. Below the cornice, the coats of arms of Franz Ludwig von Pfalz-Neuburg and Philipp Benedikt Forstmeister von Gelnhausen are a reminder of the important history of the four-winged complex.
The castle gate leads into the magnificent, secluded inner courtyard. A large pear tree provides shade in complete privacy on sunny days.
In the right wing of the palace (south-east), many rooms have been surveyed, renovated and modernized in accordance with the preservation order. Water pipes were replaced and a new heating system, partly with underfloor heating, was installed (local heating). The modern, timeless kitchen with a specially designed kitchen block and a newly fitted, very large bathroom leave nothing to be desired.
In the left and rear wings of the complex there are unusually large halls and rooms that could be used for events or for expansion, depending on the concept and ideas. On the second floor is the former granary, which offers approx. 1200 sqm of usable space all around. An extension for further rooms would be conceivable here. The "ox-eye" windows offer a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. The second floor offers a further approx. 1160 sqm of usable space. The attic would be additional storage space of approx. 500 sqm.
