Quijotes del Patrimonio - Manor house for sale: Spain

This house was designed by a physician and former mayor of Ferrol. His intention was to promote hygiene practices among the population and to advance preventive medicine. He was also reputed to be an expert in the treatment of epilepsy. Originally built in the early 20th century as a sanatorium, the building later became his private residence and is currently abandoned.

The house was built in the 15th century and was used until the 19th century as a residence for canons. Nowadays it is called “Casa del Diablo” (House of the Devil) because in it lived around 1836 a prominent anticlerical revolutionary, nicknamed El Diablo Royo, both for the color of his hair and for his not very exemplary behavior.
