Villa Auerbach in Saalfeld, Thuringia

Villa Auerbach is a manufacturer's villa in Thuringian Saalfeld in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century by Robert Schmidt for Robert Auerbach, who built numerous representative historicist villas in Gera and in southern Thuringia.

Auerbach owned the "Auerbach & Scheibe" machine factory founded in Saalfeld in 1873 and was later taken over by the SAMAG company, which still exists today.

It is an elaborately designed historic building with a slate roof, facade decoration, stair gables, bay windows, terrace with an open staircase and half-timbered structure and is dominated by a high tower.

Inside the historical architecture with wood paneling, coffered ceilings and paintings is largely preserved. The centerpiece is the open oak staircase. In the entrance hall there is still a fireplace with a carved relief.

The Thuringian monument book gives the villa a special meaning:

"The manufacturer Robert Auerbach, who comes from Gera and has been resident in Saalfeld since 1895, set a sign of self-portrayal and contemporary representation with the construction of his house, which Rudolf Schmidt found its architectural equivalent."

Villa Auerbach has found new owners in 2020.
