The villa was built in 1895 by Augusto Rey, a prominent painter of the Macchiaioli movement. It is located in Crespina, just minutes from Pisa and Lucca, and about 40 minutes from Forte dei Marmi.
The artist’s residence sits on a hill with panoramic views of the typical Tuscan valley, surrounded by lakes, and spans an estate of 25 hectares of forest and around 1,000 olive trees.
In addition to the main villa, the property includes three other buildings: a caretaker’s house and the villas Santernetti and Torre Alta. The latter two require renovation but feature frescoes by notable artists such as Giovanni Battista Tempesti and Roman Pietro della Valle.
Upon entering the villa, guests are welcomed by an original painting by Augusto Rey. The interiors resemble an art gallery, reflecting the spirit of the 19th-century Macchiaioli movement.
