Le Chapitre stands in the center of Lure on a listed heritage site. It originated as a monastery built in 1787 in the neoclassical style, to plans by Jean-Baptiste Kléber. The estate comprises a 1.53 ha park, a main house with 630 sqm of living space and 17 rooms, plus 180 sqm of additional usable space.
The main house spans three floors with individually modernized bathrooms, a communal kitchen, seminar or studio spaces, and living and dining rooms. Two separate apartments, a former barn now used as an event space, a workshop with joinery equipment, garages, and historic vaulted cellars complete the ensemble.
The gas heating system was replaced in recent years, the fireplaces are functional, the roof and roof structure are in good condition, and some windows have already been fitted with double glazing.
From 1990 to 2020, the artist Matthias Kaiser ("Tass") lived and worked here; his furniture and artworks still define the house today. His furniture, largely custom-made, is available for purchase as a set or individually, in addition to the purchase price; the fitted kitchens are included in the price.
Location
The train station is a seven-minute walk from the house, with direct connections to Mulhouse and Paris. Shops, restaurants, schools, and everyday amenities are within walking distance. Basel is around 1 hour 15 minutes away, Freiburg im Breisgau about 1.5 hours.
