Raised from Ruins: A Magdeburg Wilhelminian Villa

Villa of the machine manufacturer Christian Friedrich Budenberg in Magdeburg in Schönebecker Straße. The house contained high-quality interior furnishings, including painted coffered wooden ceilings, representative double doors and elaborately manufactured decorative elements. After the reunification, the use of the factory owner's villa ceased. Until the beginning of 2010, the building, including the described interior, was in an amazingly good condition. However, due to a lack of security, Villa Budenberg was quickly devastated and caught fire twice in 2011.

In 2015, the largely burned-out villa was rebuilt, incorporating the preserved parts of the facade. Several apartments have been created.
