Gdansk's city center is characterized by numerous burgher houses (Polish Kamienice) from the Renaissance period. They are among the main attractions in Pomerania's capital. Many of the houses, up to five stories high, some with ornate facades, are found in the Główne Miasto district, such as ul. Długa and the ul. Chlebnicka.
