The palace in Siedlec – Pałac w Siedlcu, also known as Pałac Krzyckich – was built between 1770 and 1775 for Castellan Antoni Krzycki and is associated with the heritage of prominent Polish noble families such as Grabowski, Potulicki, Tyszkiewicz, and Mielżyński.
Jan Chrystian Kamsetzer – a royal architect originally from Dresden and one of the foremost representatives of Classicism in Poland – designed a solid plastered structure on a rectangular plan with two lateral risalits, a low ground floor, and a stately main floor, crowned with high hipped and gabled roofs. The courtyard side features a columned portal with a triangular pediment adorned with a bas-relief of Helios’ chariot. The palace is among the most distinguished noble residences of its era and illustrates the transition from Baroque to Classicism.
Representative Rooms:
The main rooms are located on the upper floor and accessed via the grand staircase:
- Ballroom with approximately 23-foot ceilings and ornate stucco
- Blue Salon
- Small chapel, restored by the owners
- Additional salons and rooms arranged enfilade with wall and ceiling decor in classicist style
Of particular note are the newly discovered wall paintings with antique motifs in the south wing. Additional staircases in the lateral risalits lead to the residential areas on the upper floor.
Park:
The 6.36-hectare English landscape park features around 800 trees and a variety of plant species. It includes three ponds, two of which are connected by a bridge.
Condition and Usage Potential:
The interiors are largely restored, with updated electrical, water, and heating systems. Windows and doors on the ground floor have been replaced, partially also on the upper floor. The south and west facades have been renovated.
Additional buildings could be constructed for recreational or sports facilities, conference rooms, or guest accommodations. The palace has been heated with oil and coal stoves. Access is via an asphalt road; electricity and water are available, and the entire property is fenced.
The palace is suitable for cultural, medical, or commercial use, or as a foundation property.
