Düssin, district Ludwigslust-Parchim: Mansion of the impressive estate in Düssin is waiting for renovation and new use.
Manor houses in the greater Hamburg area: The former grange Düssin is located about 90 km southeast of Hamburg. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was a prime example for a country estate with electricity and sewerage. It is located in the northwest of Mecklenburg and is part of the Elbetal Nature Park.
Today's appearance of the manor house goes back to a modernization at the beginning of the 20th century. Owner Konrad Graf von Kanitz had the manor house rebuilt by the architect Franz Krüger from Lüneburg in the style of Tudor Gothic. There was a tower on the west side that can only be recognized today.
The manor house has been unused since the mid-1990s and is now in need of renovation. Despite the fact that it was used as a medical center and the long vacancy, elements from the construction period have been preserved, including doors, paneling, panels, historical tiles and wooden ceilings. In addition, the symmetrical layout is worth mentioning: there are two corridors with parallel staircases leading from the foyer.
A renovation can be worthwhile. It is the only house of its kind in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district. The small town of Düssin is still characterized by the structure of an impressive estate. The approximately 8.000 m² landscape park is only partially recognizable today. Part of the tree population and a pond, however, still exist.
The so-called "cattle house", a renovated farm building over 150 meters long and a stately presence, is architecturally unique on the Duesseldorf estate. A shoe factory is located in the building today. In addition to the manor house worth seeing, but also in need of renovation is the machine house and a water tower at the entrance to the manor site.
